A Technical Dinner

OK, So Chris and I wanted to take Anthony (hidden behind Chris) to Joey's BBQ for his birthday.... another friend of theirs, came along too (across from Anthony)... so much for conversation, huh?!?

Lana (my friend, Anthony's mom) and I were sitting at the other end of the table CRACKING UP at these guys!!! We should have taken away all the iPod's, phones, etc. ALL THREE of them were like this until the food came!!! LOL!!!

  2. although all this new tecknowledge is good in it's place I think that is the crucial words..IN IT'S PLACE... I don't think the meal table is the place for it...I like Ken would take it all away. !! I was reading in the news the other day that they are going to allow mobile phones on airlines now...I can think of nothing worse that enduring a flight with all these mobiles going of and the insane conversations taking palce ... why can't we live in a peaceful environment...
Anyway hope that you all enjoyed the BBQ when it arrived

  4. It's a good thing I'm not a mom of a teener right now. All those gadgets would be checked at the door when they came home and left home when we were out as a family or with friends. Talk about being addicted~kids today are addicted to their electronic gadgets for sure. LOL ! Have a good Sunday...snowing here again this morning. Linda in WA

  5. A while back, Ken and I were out at Applebee's, and saw a maybe 10-year-old girl sitting at the table with her family and texting someone. We both agreed that nope, that would not be taking place in our little corner of the world.

Of course, when I was a kid, I carried a book with me everywhere and often read when the adults were talking. I supposed it's not much different. However, I don't recall my parents allowing me to read a book at the dinner table. That would be considered rude.

  6. Talk about the lost art of converstion! I bet when they get older each one will be a member of the Geek Squad.

  7. and I bet they were texting each other too along with whoever else they were texting. I tried to ask my son to explain to me why they text over talking and he said "its easier sometimes just to text" rather than call them if it is a quick thing they want to know but then sometimes he'll spend hours texting with a friend so who knows???

I do hope they stopped long enough to eat when the food came :)

  8. Oh I would bet money that they were conversing with each other and saying things that they wouldn't normally say outloud in front of parents.

  9. My daughter does the same thing when she visits, she's either attatched to a phone or a computer. However at the dinner table she does manage to put it all away. (Hugs)Indigo

  10. Too bad they just couldn't enjoy each other's company. There is a time and place for everything.
