We went to view the floats on Friday and I did get some pics as promised, but they aren't the best, it was very crowded and I couldn't get around the people to get close up pics (you'll see all their little heads)!! I don't even remember which floats these are, but I hope you'll enjoy them anyway... I don't know how to do slideshows, so pics will have to suffice. We finally got tired of fighting the crowds and left after seeing only half the floats.
This first one is of "The Miracle Worker". A photo of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan.
This one shows pics of living transplant recipients, but I'm not sure what organization this float belongs to. Remember all the pics are made with seeds, or other natural materials.
This one (City of Anaheim) is for Betty, who asked me to get some pics of the city floats, but I couldn't get many.... it was just so crowded, I couldn't get close enough.
This is also for Betty.... it was a church with pews, organs pipes, and all... wish I'd gotten a better one of this, it was so pretty.
Well, I won't narrate the rest of them... Just enjoy....
And this one's for Lisa.

What smashing photographs considering all the crowds around. It is amazing to think they are all adorned with flowers etc. There is a flower festival somehwere called Spalding over here in the spring time...might lok into possibility of going to have a look at that..

Thanks for putting the pictures up for us. They are lovely. It's unimaginable how many flowers were used for them all. I usually watch the parade on tv but missed it this year.

Those pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing them. I would love to just be near them so I could smell all the beautiful flowers that they use. Have a great Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI loved the pics, esp the H Keller one. It reminded me that I love to reread that book every few years.
ReplyDeleteI love the pics! My dream is to one day be able to afford to go to NY for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade....be in NY for New Year's...and to go to the Tournament of Roses Parade.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little partial to the Helen Keller float as I used to be a sign language interpreter (a few years ago)!
Love the pics!
thanks Joann! all were great; thanks for the city one and the church one!! I liked the one you did for Lisa, too cute!!
ReplyDeleteit amazes me that all the floats have to be made of living things; amazing that there are talented people out there that know what will work and what won't work.
I told my hubby I would like to see the parade again some time (I saw it years ago with my mom) but I would also like to see the floats up close like you did; I would imagine the crowds would be horrific though!
thanks for your dilligence in getting these pictures!

Great shots Joann,
ReplyDeleteEspecially when you consider that you had difficulty getting a clear view and clear shot of the floats. I thought you did a great job. My favorite is the church float. Kind of reminds me of "Little House on the Prarie"...lol
